During term 5 & 6 Sycamore class will be reading 'The Railway Children'. We will be learning how to write a story using a clear beginning, middle and end. We will write interesting character descriptions which are engaging to all readers. We will be learning how to spell difficult words by using rhyme or a picture to help us. We will also be investigating how words change using prefixes and suffixes.
Sycamore class will continue to learn how to use paragraphs, conjunctions, clauses, powerful verbs and adjectives in their writing. We will also be continue to learn about different word classes, such as prepositions and adjectives.
Every Friday we have a spelling test, so please help your child practise their spellings that they are given on a Monday. There are links at the bottom of the page for all of the spellings in term 5 that the children will be tested on.
During term 5 & 6 Sycamore class will be learning to use expanded and compact methods of subtraction and addition. We will also be learning how to solve problems using RUCSAC. We will be learning about fractions, decimals and percentages.
We will also continue to learn how to use the grid method to multiply numbers, secure all of our times tables by learning the multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4, 6 and 8 times table.
Every Friday all of the children will be tested on their times tables, so please help your child practise.
Sycamore class will be learning about 'Railways'.
In art we will drawing shadows and finding out about different ways of using a pencil to draw.
We will be drawing and painting picture of different engines using thin and thick strokes.
Sycamore class will continue dance on a Wednesday morning and P.E on a Tuesday and a Thursday.
