Starting School September 2020

When you are first offered a place in Reception you will receive an offer letter from the Local Authority. It is essential that you confirm with them that you wish to accept this offer so that any child who is on a waiting list can be offered your place if you no longer need it.

Once you have confirmed that you wish to accept your offer the school will write to you with information about our Stay and play settling in sessions. These are sessions when you and your child can come into our Early Years classroom to meet the staff and become familiar with the setting.

Over the course of these sessions we will encourage you to leave your child in the classroom while you get to know the other parents away from them in the hall. This is always done at the pace with which your child is most comfortable as we recognise what a big step this is for you and your child.

COVID-19 Update

Currently our school is closed in response to the Covid-19 crisis. As a result we may not be able to offer settling in sessions in the way we had planned. We have developed a ‘virtual’ tour and other resources that will help your child to understand more about starting school in September. We will contact each family by email with more details.

If you would like more information about the process of starting school please contact Mrs Carla Harrison via the school office. Mrs Cook is the Early Years Leader at Dundry and will lead you and your child on this very exciting journey of starting school.
